Activities

Dawdon Youth and Community Centre is run by a volunteer management committee, made up of members of the community and local councillors. It opened in May 2001 and the setting supports those with additional needs and provides suitable access for those with disabilities. It is open for 179 hours over seven days, including school holiday periods.

We offer Educational Courses and a wide range of leisure activities such as Karate, Fitness classes, Parent and Toddlers. We run a Food Bank supporting those in crisis,  Befriender Scheme supporting the elderly, disabled and those in isolation, "Mates 'n' Baits offering free meals in a social setting. We are Trained Debt Advisors able to offer support and Advice on a wide variety of issues including benefits. We are a Credit Union collection point offering savings club as well as low cost loans.

We provide a base for other organisations who use the Centre’s facilities to run their own services.

We support 150+ children through the Youth Hub which also supports healthy eating and cookery, sport, arts and crafts,dance and choir sessions. The club helps disadvantaged children and young people integrate more positively into society with the increase in their confidence. Through workshops we tackle issues such as self-awareness, bullying, anti-social behaviour, social inclusion and body image. The CREE project supports children and young people aged 13+ with emotional wellbeing issues, Safe Place 2 Talk supports children 7 – 13 years with a variety of emotional wellbeing issues.
